  • Description:
Three women rent a holiday house in Cornwall for the summer. Each brings with her children, baggage (in every sense) and expectation, in this sparkling follow up to Goodbye Jimmy Choo. Imogen, frighteningly capable and a bit of a control freak, is naturally the one who organised the holiday and everyone around her. Irrespressibly jolly and a great cook, regarding her three children as her finest achievement, she's determined everyone will enjoy themselves. Sophie, Imogen's friend since boarding school days, is fluffy and easy going. She knows she should be feeding her two daughters organic cous-cous, but where's the harm in those yummy McDonalds apple pies? She'll happily fall in with Imogen's plans - she just wants everyone to get along. And then there's Jo. a friend of Sophie's roped in at the last minute when the first choice of housemate pulls out. Jo appears to be the polar opposite of Imogen. A sardonic East London GP and single mum, who's alarmingly laisscz-faire with her little bou, all she really wants is to put her feet up. There's friction over the domestic trivia from the outset and it can only get worse as the weather closes in. Then Imogen and Sophie's husbands arrive for the weekend. Oh dear - a shared holiday seemed such a good idea back in January...

Review:
This book arrived from Amazon on Saturday and I'd finished by Tuesday afternoon! It was engrossing, dealing as it does with the burgeoning relationship between these three very different women and their children. The story is beautifully written; heartwarming, tearjerking and funny. In the miserably dark and cold month of January this is one of those delightful books which transports you away to sunny days on the beach and picnics with fabulous food.

The women in this story are in their mid-30s. Whilst not quite hen-lit, it's definitely not chick lit.... whatever you'd call it, it lit up some dull days for me!
