  • Description:
Philip Winter has been accused of rape. he knew he was innocent, a victim of his accuser's paranoia when he had rejected her advances. The jury, not convinced of his guilt, acquitted him, but neither his family or his employers accept the verdict. Unemployed and unemployable, made a pariah in his own home, Philip disappears. Suicide is suspected and his wife accepts the solution with some relief, but he has merely removed himself from his once ordered life and is now part of the anonymous, ever-moving homeless society, adrift with the other innocent and not-so-innocent outcasts. he falls into the company of Dennis Smith. A naiive product of the lonely inner city, whose fascination in the countryside has lured him into a splinter group of animal rights activists. Despite the difference in their age, experience and attitude, Philip and Denis develop a mutally reliant relationship as in their seperate ways they struggle to survive outside the system. Unbeknownst to them both, their immediate destinies are being manipulated by a woman who is using the fashionable environmental movement to settle a very personal score, and with appalling inevitability Philip is drawn into the violent machinations of another obsessed woman.
